Special Education Services at Isleta Elementary School

Isleta Elementary is an inclusive learning environment where all students receive the necessary guidance to succeed. Our special education program supports students with special needs and helps students with unique challenges benefit from a creative and engaging curriculum. The goal is to empower every student with the appropriate tools, resources and attention for them to excel academically, mentally, physically and spiritually.

Our special education program staff identify students’ diverse abilities and create effective education plans. With the right attention, aid and accommodations, our students with special needs progress alongside their classmates. Our dedicated special education teachers combine teamwork among educators and communication with parents to create a learning process that is beneficial to all.

Individualized Education Plans are designed with the child’s specific needs in mind. Plans include the adjustments that will help students succeed. Our special education teachers, classroom teachers, parents and guardians address the student’s specific goals and monitor their progress. Any necessary accommodations are added to the IEP and the classroom and will be monitored for efficiency.

Necessary accommodations can include assistive technologies, decreased class sizes, increased assessment times or various supportive learning resources. The goal is to guide students toward their greatest potential with independent living and learning. Parents are expected to be involved in our special education program because their student’s success depends on their participation, suggestions and questions.
