Isleta Hoops
Athletics
The courts at the Isleta Recreation Center are buzzing with energy as the new season officially kicks into high gear. Combining community policing with local athletics, the initiative has gotten off to an explosive start, fostering both competitive excellence and community spirit.
The program has already seen Isleta's young athletes face off against a variety of regional competitors, including Santo Domingo, San Felipe Elementary, San Diego Riverside Elementary, Zia Elementary, To'Hajiilee Elementary, and Laguna Elementary Schools. The level of competition has been high, but Isleta continues to stand out both on the scoreboard and in sportsmanship.
In the 5th and 6th-grade divisions, Isleta has established itself as the team to beat. The boys' squad currently boasts a perfect 5-0 record, while the girls' team remains untouched with a stellar 3-0 start to their campaign. Their disciplined play and teamwork have become a hallmark of the Isleta program this season.
The most dramatic game of the season this far belonged to the 3rd and 4th-grade boys. While they hold a strong 2-1 record, their lone loss came in what spectators are calling a "nail-biter" against Zia Elementary. The game pushed into double overtime, with both teams refusing to back down until the final buzzer. Despite Page 1 the narrow defeat, the resilience shown by the young Isleta players has been praised by coaches and parents alike. The 3rd and 4th-grade girls have also made their mark early, winning their opening game to secure a 1-0 record in their age group.

Our deepest gratitude goes to the volunteers and the entire Isleta community for their continued support.
