Isleta Elementary School - Family Involvement

Isleta Elementary School encourages parents/guardians, grandparents and earlier generations to be part of our school community. Our educational program recognizes the importance of family involvement in a child’s development. Students thrive in their school community when they have the support and active participation of familial resources. We provide various opportunities for families to interact with our learning environment.

Parent-Teacher Organization

Our Parent-Teacher Organization maintains open school-family communications and oversees the productivity of their partnerships. Currently, three members of the PTO manage the organization’s operations, serving as president, vice president and secretary.

  • President – Desirae Salvador
  • Vice-President – Connie Orozco
  • Secretary – Rachel Melchor

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Family involvement is an essential part of the Isleta Elementary School curriculum. Teachers, specialists and administrators further improve the school-student-parent relationship through regularly scheduled parent-teacher conferences. These conferences support, enhance and track every student's progress. Students, family members and teachers stay in constant communication to ensure students' progress.

Family Activities

Isleta Elementary School Eagles soar higher because of strong family and community support systems. Our family involvement program services include Family Engagement Nights, with activities such as our popular Thanksgiving luncheons and various cultural education events where families can teach and learn together. Students' educational needs are met by utilizing resources available inside and outside the classroom.

We are preparing the future leaders of our Pueblo community, and family involvement remains an integral part of our curriculum. Parents/guardians and community members are the student’s first teachers, whether teaching the Tiwa language or how to use the traditional horno oven. Eagle students and teachers depend on parents/guardians and community members to support us as we continue to achieve more and soar higher.
